Do you think that blind people could make pictures? I have read the story about a blind painter. Here it is:

"The painter is Esref Armagan. And he is here in Boston to see if a peek inside his brain can explain how a man who has never seen can paint pictures that the sighted easily recognise - and even admire. He paints houses and mountains and lakes and faces and butterflies, but he's never seen any of these things. He depicts colour, shadow and perspective, but it is not clear how he could have witnessed these things either. How does he do it?"

Do you think, that building up mental images we are using just our eyes, or other senses also. And how?

I have the impression that this phenomenon represents a question on the border of our understanding. This is a matter for researchers at a very advanced level.
I personally think that there is so much to do in order to make the cultural heritage and the works of art accessible through the tactile sense and that this issue... is enough for the Access to Art, Right not Privilege project.
The topic of the mental images as such, and their link with the different senses, is .. too large for my cacapity of understanding.
In any case, is any picture of this painter available for seeing? is there any web site with a gallery?
